What kind of day is your body set up for?

Scan your face for thirty seconds each morning. Wavespan reads your pulse, your heart rate variability, your breathing and your strain, and prints the answer. No wearable. Nothing to strap on.

This morning it would say

Your pulse is 64 and your variability is 52, which is the widest it has been this week. Breathing sits at 12. Nothing is pulling hard in either direction, so the day is yours to spend.

Counterweight

A steady morning is the easiest one to waste. Steady is not the same as busy.

Pick the hard thing first, while nothing is competing for you.

How it works

  1. 1

    Scan

Thirty seconds with the front camera, once, in the morning. No wearable, no chest strap, no subscription to a device. Your phone is the sensor.

  2. 2

    Read

Four numbers become one print, and a reading that quotes those numbers back to you in plain words. No horoscope, no vague weather report.

  3. 3

    Spend the day accordingly

One thing to do, and one line that argues with how you are about to read yourself. That line is the part people keep.

What arrives each morning

Five things, in the same order, every day. It takes about a minute to read.

The print
Four inks, mixed by your four numbers, overprinted like a risograph. It pulses at your real heart rate.
A coherence score
Out of 100. How well the four are working together this morning, not how good you are.
The reading
Your actual numbers, in sentences. "Your pulse is 64 and your variability is 52, the widest it has been this week."
The counterweight
The part that disagrees with you. Every other app in this category agrees with you.
One action
A single thing, today, concrete. Not a practice, not a course, not a streak.

And how today sits between you and your people

Friends connect by phone number, both sides opting in. Each morning you see their print and one verdict about the day between you. Never about the person, and it starts again tomorrow.

You, this morning

Costs you

Them, this morning

You are steady and they are running hot. It is still worth doing. It is not free, and the app says so rather than letting you find out at four o'clock.

Ninety mornings

Every Plate you make is kept. A season of them is a picture of your year that no chart of averages will give you, and you can order any one of them as a print.

Why this is not the other thing

Co-Star reads a birthday that never changes. Wavespan reads a body that changes every morning.

It reads a body, not a birthday

Your chart never changes. Your body changes every night. Wavespan measures the thing that actually moved.

It argues with you

The Counterweight is written to push back on the story you are about to tell yourself. Feeling sharp on four hours of sleep is not sharpness, and something should say so.

It resets every morning

Nothing here is a personality type, a score you carry or a streak you can break. Today is read from today. Tomorrow is read again.

It works between people

Your circle shows how today sits between you and each person in it. Always about the day, never about the person.

Your friends see a print, never a number

They see the Plate and the archetype. Your pulse, your variability and your strain never leave your side of it.

Nothing to wear

The camera reads color changes in your skin as your heart beats. No frame is recorded, stored or sent, and only a handful of numbers leave your phone.

The four inks

Every print is these four, overlapping. What changes is how much of each, and the overlaps are where it gets interesting.

Questions

Is this medical?
No. Wavespan is wellness and entertainment. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and its readings are not medical measurements. If something about your health worries you, speak to a doctor.
What does it actually measure?
Four things: heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate and a strain index. The camera picks up small color changes in your skin as blood moves through it, which is the same principle a pulse oximeter uses.
Is my face stored anywhere?
No. No frame is recorded, stored or sent. Each one is measured and thrown away on your phone, and only the four resulting numbers ever leave it.
What can my friends see?
Your Plate and your archetype. Never your numbers, and never your reading. There is no endpoint that returns another person's vitals, so there is nothing for an app update to accidentally expose.
Do I need a watch or a ring?
No. If you already wear one, keep wearing it. Wavespan does not need it and does not read it.
How long does it take?
Thirty seconds, once a day. The app tells you when it has what it needs and keeps the screen awake while it reads.

Wavespan opens in the spring.

Leave a number and we will text you once, on the day it opens. Nothing else, ever, and you can reply STOP to that one message.

We store the number and nothing else. No name, no email, no account.
